CLASS TYPES

Peas & Pods

Our Peas and Pods dance classes are specially crafted for parents/carers and their little ones. Our teachers facilitate a deliberate and creative exploration of dance concepts, gently introducing elements of technical motor-skill development and creative dance exploration, while supporting a gradual transition into independent learning. Suitable for children from walking age up to 3 years.

Teeny Tiny Troopers

Teeny Tiny Troopers marks the transition into independent learning, with a key focus on play-based engagement and helping children understand how to participate in a learning environment. This class supports the development of coordination and introduces early technical terminology, along with gentle guidance in self-regulation. Classes are taken independently by the child.

Tiny Troopers

Tiny Troopers builds on the foundations of play and discovery while developing students’ technical skills through a more structured class format. Fostering creative expression, physical growth, and social interaction, this stage lays the foundations for progression into the technical dance styles (such as Cecchetti Ballet and Jazz) that will follow next year. Students also have the option to participate in the end-of-year concert, helping them develop confidence and performance skills.

What “level” should my child be in?

Choosing a dance style or level for your child can be a tricky task! To help, we’ve provided what we have found to be the most effective steps to getting it right:

1. Each class will have an indication of suitable age levels, this is the best first step (see table below).

2. What style/s is your child most interested in/most likely to enjoy? Sometimes a child may be put off by a particular style because of preconceived ideas as to how it will be, or maybe they had an earlier negative experience. If unsure, we always encourage both children and parents to approach styles with an open mind, and are happy to provide a free trial class if more convincing is needed!

3. Does your child have previous dance experience? This will help to choose between Beginner, Inter and Advanced levels, however we always aim to ensure each child is placed in a class where they not only feel comfortable, but are also continually challenged in their learning.

4. It’s critical for us that your child feels safe, confident and secure in all of the classes that we offer. For this reason, whether it be during enrolments, mid-term queries, or end of year reviews, please don’t hesitate to ask if you feel you would like more information or have any concerns about your child’s classes.

Please use this table as a rough guide to see what group is suitable for your child. Please note, this is only a guide! Our teachers will best be able to place your child in the class best for them. Beginners are always welcome! (ballet grades are based on the Cecchetti minimum ages for these classes).

Please note: Dance levels/grades do not align with school levels! We’ve listed the average corresponding school grade and age to dance grade. We do however stress that this is a guide and we do also need to take into consideration skill levels to ensure safe dance practice is upheld and students are placed where they are best suited.
